Healthy Chocolate Eggless Waffles (Whole Wheat & Jaggery Sweetened)

If you’ve got a little one who loves chocolate but you want to keep it wholesome — these eggless chocolate waffles are a winner! Made with whole wheat flour, jaggery, and unsweetened cocoa, they’re crisp on the outside, soft inside, and sweetened naturally.

Chocolate waffles being drizzled with syrup in a bento box with whipped cream and fruit.

They pack beautifully in lunchboxes (no mess, no sogginess) and double up as a weekend breakfast treat or after-school snack.

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup whole wheat flour

  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 5 tbsp jaggery powder

  • ½ tsp baking powder

  • ¼ tsp baking soda

  • 2 tbsp melted butter (or coconut oil)

  • 1 cup milk (adjust consistency if needed)

Method

  1. Mix the dry ingredients: In a bowl, whisk flour, cocoa, jaggery, baking powder, and baking soda.

  2. Add wet ingredients: Pour in melted butter and milk. Mix gently into a smooth, thick batter.

  3. Preheat the waffle maker: Lightly grease with butter or oil.

  4. Cook: Pour batter, close lid, and cook for 4–5 minutes until crisp and golden.

  5. Serve or pack: Cool slightly before packing into your child’s lunchbox.

Tips from a lunch-packing mum

  • Add finely chopped bananas or crushed walnuts for extra flavour.

  • Swap milk for oat or almond milk for a dairy-free version.

  • Freeze extras — they reheat perfectly in the toaster on busy mornings.
